The Man Who Saw Everything by Deborah Levy

Held in January 2020, our first literary supperclub was inspired by Deborah Levy's Booker Prize-longlisted novel. We invited guests into Levy's shifting world – moving between 1988 and 2016, London and East Berlin – to dine off the Abbey Road zebra crossing, to a soundtrack of The Beatles. Maria created an immersive tablescape featuring motifs from the book – sunflowers, white roses and oyster shells containing pearls. Place names were personalised matchboxes, which guests took home as mementos. A menu of schnapps cocktails, roasted cauliflower salad, wild mushroom pie and pineapple tarte tatin offered a multi-sensory journey through the story.
