A Virtual Immersive Literary Supperclub

We hosted our first virtual author event on 28th May, connecting readers in London, Barcelona, Nairobi and the US. Set in Beijing and Tibet, An Yu's dreamlike debut is the story of a young widow’s journey to self-knowledge following her husband’s death. Guests decorated tables inspired by the novel; notably, Maria Castellanos' set featured a profusion of tulips and Chinese ceramics. An Yu answered questions on the novel's themes – from relationships, grief and isolation to art, creativity and, of course, food. Guests cooked their own Shanghai-style braised pork afterwards.
